Leading commercial dishwasher and laundry suppliers, Southern Contracts, are thrilled that University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust have retained them to replace a substantial amount of their equipment.
Wards in Bournemouth and Poole hospitals possess their own dishwashers to keep cross contamination between wards to a minimum. Each of these needs to now be replaced and the UHD has appointed Southern Contracts to carry out this work for them.
The Trust was formed from a merger on 1 October 2020, creating a new organisation which now serves a population of more than 800,000 people, from the Purbecks to south Wiltshire.
Comprising the Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Hospitals, the trust delivers patient care with a focus on the future for better outcomes, improved quality and more efficient service delivery.
Adam Elphinstone, MD of Southern Contracts said: “With approximately sixty wards all containing their own dishwashing machines, this is certainly a great job for us to win. We’ve been working with the NHS for many years to provide industrial quality equipment for various departments and this is no exception.
“To aid us in swapping the machines as quickly and effectively as possible, we have commissioned plinths for each of the machines so we can just wheel the new equipment into position, with minimum disruption to the staff and patients, which is at the core of what we do; keeping our clients happy with the least interruption as possible.”
Andy Wilson from the Estates Department, Royal Bournemouth Hospital said: “Southern contracts have supplied the trust for many years and they never fail to impress with the level of service they provide.
“We have recently asked Southern Contracts to supply and fit a number of ward based dishwashers across the trust, they listened and understood our requirements and then provided us with a suitable option at a competitive price that included installation, commissioning and training to the end user.
“I always feel confident purchasing goods from Southern Contracts as they have well a skilled and polite team who can tend to any issues we may have and nothing is too much trouble,” he added.
