Opened in 1996, Bridport Community Hospital and now offers a comprehensive range of services to enhance the lives of people living in Bridport and the surrounding area.

They provide specialties in out-patients and day surgery, audiology, elderly care, gynaecology and obstetrics, ophthalmology, paediatrics, ultrasound and X-Ray alongside physiotherapy, occupational therapy and the mental health team, as well as social services, learning disabilities and the district nursing team based at the hospital.

It also boasts a busy Minor Injuries Unit that is nurse-led and offers a variety of services and treatments for minor ailments and minor injuries. Plus a 24-bedded ward – Colmers – caring predominantly for patients over 65 for rehabilitation, as well as end for palliative and end of life care.

The Bridport Hub brings together health and social care, local GPs and community services. This model is being replicated in other areas and is seen as innovative nationally.

Supported by Bridport Hospital’s League of Friends, over the years they have purchased specialist equipment for departments and continue to provide help for patients.
