Emma Maersk

We’ve recently supplied an Electrolux Professional undercounter warewasher to the Emma Maersk, a Maersk Triple E, currently the biggest container ship in the world. The appliance was shipped to Kuehne+Nagel in Rotterdam along with a host of other spares for other appliances for when they are underway and out at sea.

She was named in a ceremony on 12 August 2006, after Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller’s late wife, Emma and featured in an episode of the TV documentary series Mighty Ships, during a voyage between Malaysia and Spain.

The Maersk Triple E, fuel-efficient container ships are famous not only for their size, but also as much for their energy efficiency.

She has features to lower environmental damage, including exhaust heat recovery and cogeneration, where some of the exhaust gases are circulated through the engine to improve economy and lower emissions. Some are passed through a steam generator to power a steam turbine and electrical generators. The electrical output is 8.5 MW, equivalent to about 12% of the main engine power output and some of this steam is used directly for the ship’s onboard heating system.

Keeping in mind energy efficiency, we recommended to our client the Electrolux Pro marine warewasher with capacity of 40 baskets or 720 dishes per hour, guaranteeing ideal washing results every time.
