We’ve just installed a Miele #PW507 and a #PDR507 heatpump dryer at Moorlands College, located on the outskirts of the New Forest in Christchurch.
Both machines are part of Miele’s #LittleGiants professional range. The washer can wash 7kg in 59 min, with a drum load size 7kgs and uses 22% less water, and therefore uses 28% less energy. The dryer can cope with 7kg in 46 min with precision drying of all fabrics using the patented PerfectDry.
Moorlands was founded in 1948, by David Clifford, after spending six months in the USA. Originally Matlock Bible College it relocated in 1955 to Dawlish, Devon, changing its name to Moorlands to reflect the South West region. The college grew and opened a ladies college in 1964 in Torquay. After a few years of unrest it relocated to Verwood in Dorset, before finally re-opening in a large converted manor house in Sopley, supported by an American mission (Greater European Mission). The Mission provided Moorlands with its new home and new Principal: Dr Derek Copley. In 1995, under a new partnership with Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education, Moorlands College awards its first validated Diploma, followed a year later by a BA degree.
The demands of the world and the nature of education may be continually shifting – not unlike laundry technology! – and Moorlands remains committed to the vision of training men and women
