New LCL Certificates for Southern Contracts’ Harvey

Another Southern Contracts’ member of staff, has successfully completed a Quality Assurance examination.

Harvey Montagu, who joined Southern Contracts back in August, has recently completed, and passed, his LCL qualifications, which are certificated to industry led standards for gas installation and servicing.

These LCL tests are required for anyone wishing to work on gas installations and appliances. In addition, the operative must also hold the relevant appliance element specifically relating to the work they wish to undertake.

In total, Harvey completed three qualifications:

  • COCNP1LS, Commercial Natural Gas, is a core qualification for gas related works in commercial premises. It is a pre-requisite to have before attaining other additional commercial qualifications such as, TPCP1 + 1A and ICPN1LS and is made up of both theory and practical assessments.
  • TPCP1A, Safety assessment of non-domestic natural gas testing and purging. This module covers gas safety competencies of an operative in the work of strength testing, tightness testing and direct purging of small, low pressure natural gas, non-domestic gas installations.
  • ICPN1 which relates to the installation of first fix on commercial pipework. This course is for experienced operatives wishing to undertake installation first fix of pipework in excess of 35mm.

Harvey also happens to be a grandson to the original founder of Southern Contracts, Norman Elphinstone Snr.

Adam Elphinstone, MD of Southern Contracts, said: “As a relatively new recruit, we are delighted with the enthusiasm and dedication that Harvey has already brought to the team and that he recognises how essential it is for our engineers to keep up to date with training requirements to ensure we provide the best service to our clients.”
