Southern Contracts has begun Phase 1 of a big contract with Carnival Cruises.

An order for the replacement of all passenger and crew laundrette machines across their fleet has been received from Carnival Cruises for their Cunard line of cruise ships, commencing with the Queen Mary II.

Twelve cruise ships in total will have their passenger launderettes updated with Electrolux Professional products to automatically weigh the contents and adjust the water required, correcting the dewatering process, saving time in the process and providing a quicker and more efficient experience for the user, while also reducing water and cost to the cruise line. The Pure Control feature enables monitoring of the equipment and performance remotely, allowing intervention when necessary.

Adam Elphinstone, Director of Southern Contracts said: “These robust and easy-to-use machines provide easy maintenance and fast access for customers, the key to a successful self-service laundry.   With a total of x40 washing machines and x40 driers on order, these modern machines are not only A++ rated for efficiency, but are stackable when installed, to present a neat and tidy launderette experience for the passengers and crew using them.

“Carnival are one of the only cruise providers to currently provide free launderette facilities to their passengers.”

Adam added, “We are also delighted to be working with Northern Irish company, Aecor Marine, who will be replacing the existing floor plinths to ensure these machines are fully secured to the ship.”

As an extra service and to ensure minimal disruption to passengers and crew, Southern Contracts will also be providing Critical Spares Packs to each vessel which will be stored on board in case of emergency when out at sea and inaccessible for repairs.
